OC-3/OC-12 Bay Intershelf DS1 Timing Cabling
(1) For a DDM-2000 OC-3/OC-12 combined bay application where the DDM-2000
OC-3 shelf (or shelves) DS1 timing is to be multed to the DD2000 OC-12 shelf,
obtain an ED-8C724-20, Group 380 DS1 timing cable listed in Table 2-6 on
page 2-39 and connect it to J65 of the DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf.
(2) Route the DS1 timing cable to the side of the bay and connect to J37 of the
DDM-2000 OC-3 shelf directly above the DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf as shown in
Figure 2-21 on page 2-68.
NOTE:
Multing between additional DDM-2000 OC-3 shelves in the bay is covered in
363-206-204,
DDM-2000 OC-3 Multiplexer Installation Manual
.
(3) Dress and tie the cables as close to the backplane as possible without touching
any backplane pins.
DS1 Timing Cabling for Sync Input - Rear
Access
Description
Perform the following procedure for shelves equipped with BBF2B/BBF4 timing circuit
packs provisioned for deriving sync input from the incoming OC-12 optical line.
DS1 timing cable options are listed in Table 2-6 on page 2-39.
DS1timing cable connections are listed in Table 2-14 on page 2-46.
Timing Source for Sync Input Connection
NOTE:
The cabling from the DS1 reference clock timing source should connect to the
bottom shelf in the bay. Other DDM-2000 OC-12 shelves in the bay are daisy-
chained up from the bottom shelf.
(1) Obtain a Group 394 Sync Input timing cable listed in Table 2-6 on page 2-39 and
connect to J66 of the shelf that will be receiving DS1 timing on it’s incoming
OC-12 optical fiber.
