IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
(1) Read and understand all instructions.

(3) Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The product may fall, causing
serious damage to the product.
(4) Slots and openings in this product cabinet and the back or bottom are provided for ventila-
tion. To protect it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. This
product should not be placed in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided. For
information on proper ventilation requirements, refer to "Equipment Installation Consider-
ations" of this manual.
(5) This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking
label. For information on proper electrical distribution and power requirements, refer to Power
Cable Installation - Front Access" or "Power Cable Installation - Rear Access" of this manual.
(6) Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots as they may touch dan-
gerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in a risk of fire or electrical shock.
Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.
(7) To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not disassemble this product.Service should be per-
formed by trained personnel only. Opening or removing covers and/or circuit packs may
expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electrical
shock when the unit is subsequently used.

CAUTION:
Disconnect both power connections when removing power from the system.
(8) Use only Lucent manufactured UL
*
recognized circuit packs in this system. The following cir-
cuit packs are UL recognized for use in the DDM-2000 OC-12 Multiplexer: BBG8 (SYSCTL),
BCP4 (OHCTL), BBF2B (TGS), BBF4 (TGS), BCP2 (TSI), BBG11 (3DS3), BBG12
(3STS1E), 21D-U (OLIU), 21G3-U (OLIU), 23G-U (OLIU), 23H-U (OLIU), 177B and 177C
(APPBLK).
(9) The DDM-2000 OC-12 Multiplexer is UL listed for restricted access installations in business
and customer premises applications installed in accordance with Articles 110-16 and 110-17
of the National Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA Number 70-87. Other installations exempt from the
requirements of the National Electric Code may be engineered according to the accepted
practices of the local telecommunications utility.
