(2) Route the optical fiber cables from the LGX optical cross-connection into the
DDM-2000 OC-12 bay, stacking the cables as shown in Figure 2-2 on page 2-49
or Figure 2-3 on page 2-50.
(3) Place the optical fiber cables in a protective tube or channel.
(4) Label the optical fiber cables, indicating bay, shelf, pack, and direction (IN or
OUT).
(5) Remove the fiber tray cover from the bottom front of the DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf.
This cover is attached to the fiber tray with three screws.
(6) Place the optical fiber cables in the fiber tray through the “dog ear” cutouts in the
MAIN B and any applicable function unit positions, and route the cables out the
side of the fiber tray.
(7) If this is not a DDM-2000 OC-3/OC-12 combined bay application, replace the
fiber tray cover on the shelf.
OC-3/OC-12 Bay Fiber Connections
NOTE:
For a DDM-2000 OC-3/OC-12 combined bay application, run optical fiber cables
from each DDM-2000 OC-3 shelf MAIN OLIU position to the respective
DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf FUNCTION UNITS OLIU position per the following pro-
cedure.
(1) Fiber cable lengths from the DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf to the DDM-2000 OC-3
shelf positions 1, 2, 3, and 4 are 8-feet, 9-feet, 10-feet, and 11-feet respectively.
(2) Remove the fiber tray cover from the bottom front of the DDM-2000 OC-3 shelf.
(3) Place the optical fiber cables in the fiber tray through the “dog ear” cutouts in the
MAIN positions, and route the cables out the side of the fiber tray.
(4) Run the optical fiber cables, in the protective tube or channel, down to the
DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf.
(5) Place the optical fiber cables in the fiber tray through the “dog ear” cutouts in the
respective FUNCTION UNITS positions, and route the cables out the side of the
fiber tray.
(6) Store any fiber cable slack in the lightguide slack storage shelf located at the
bottom of the bay.
(7) Replace the fiber tray covers on the DDM-2000 OC-3 and OC-12 shelves.
