End-To-End Installation Tests for Ring Applications of the DDM-2000 OC-12 Multiplexer
Lucent Technologies - Proprietary
See Notice on first page
(6) Enable Far End Communications at the Main-B-1 OLIU at the next node using
the
set-fecom:dcc-mb1:com=enabled; command.
If this shelf has function unit OLIUs that have previously been optically con-
nected to DDM-2000 OC-3 shelves, enable communications between those
shelves also as follows:
Issue the
set-fecom:dcc-
address
:com=enabled; command at the OC-12 shelf
for the function unit addresses of those OLIUs, and then at the OC-3 shelf for the
Main OLIU addresses.
(7) For Release 3 applications, temporarily set the first node as the Gateway Net-
work Element by using the
set-ne:tid=tid:gne=yes; command.
(8) Allow the shelves a few moments to reset, and then verify communications
between nodes by entering the
rtrv-map-network; command (Release 5) or
the
rtrv-nmap; command (Release 3).
All nodes that have been connected together via fiber and have had far end com-
munications enabled, should appear in the output report displayed on the CIT.
Fiber Verification
(1) Disconnect the fiber cable from the OUT jack on the MAIN-B-2 OLIU at the first
node of the ring. At the next node, verify that the MAIN-B-1 OLIU FAULT LED is
flashing, indicating loss of signal (LOS).
(2) Reconnect this fiber and verify that alarms extinguish after a few moments.
(3) At that same node, disconnect the fiber cable from the OUT jack on the
MAIN-B-1 OLIU at the node. At the first node, verify that the MAIN-B-2 OLIU
FAULT LED is flashing, indicating loss of signal (LOS).
(4) Reconnect this fiber and verify that alarms extinguish after a few moments.
DSNE and AGNE/GNE (Releases 3 and 5)
(1) Repeat this entire “Fiber Connection and Verification” procedure for each node
in the ring, working in a clockwise direction from node to node, leaving the first
node temporarily set as the DSNE and AGNE (Release 5) or GNE (Release 3),
until the entire ring is connected.
(2) After verification of communications between all nodes in the ring has been
established, the DSNE and/or AGNE (Release 5) or GNE (Release 3) may be
moved to a different node, as determined by the customer, as follows:
(3) Use the
set-ne command to set the DSNE (Release 5) or GNE (Release 3) to no
in the first node before setting it to
yes in another node. An AGNE (Release 5)
can be established in another node without first removing it from the first node
since multiple AGNEs are allowed.
