Equipment and Rear Access Cabling for the DDM-2000 OC-12 Multiplexer

It is important to carefully follow the cabling procedures in this section to ensure
that the bay will accommodate all of the cables and that the backplane cover will
fit properly.
Cables should be installed starting from the bottom shelf in the bay and working
toward the top. The procedure described in this section should be followed for
optimum utilization of the bay cable channels.
Cable assembly options are listed in Tables 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6 and 2-7
on pages 2-32 through 2-54. Connector pinouts are provided in Figure 2-4 on
page 2-51.
All of the cables, except power and the optical fibers, are connected to the
DDM-2000 OC-12 backplane.
It is a requirement that the DDM-2000 OC-12 Multiplexer be equipped with a pro-
tective backplane cover at the completion of the installation.
Install cable brackets as required.

cables. The wire wrap gun must be able to accommodate 22 or 26 gauge wire.

‡‡ An ohmmeter is required to verify that the DDM-2000 OC-3 is properly
grounded.
Screwdriver(s)

*** A screwdriver with the appropriate head(s) is required for mounting the shelf,
heat baffles, fan, and cable brackets; for removing the front cover, rear cover;
and for some cables to the backplane.
