Fiber Connection
(1) After the appropriate optical power measurement is achieved, connect this
receive fiber to the MAIN-B-1 23-type OLIU IN (receive) connector at the node
where the power measurement is being taken.
NOTE:
In ring applications, the MAIN-B-1 OLIU transmit connects to the MAIN-B-2 OLIU
receive connector at the preceding node in the ring. Likewise, the MAIN-B-2
OLIU transmit connects to the MAIN-B-1 OLIU receive connector of the succeed-
ing node in the ring. This pattern remains true for each node throughout the ring.
(2) At this same node, connect the optical fiber transmit cable, that is to transmit in
the counterclockwise direction of the ring, to the DDM-2000 OC-12 23-type
MAIN-B-1 OLIU OUT connection and fully insert the OLIU into the shelf.
(3) Back at the first node, measure the optical power of the optical fiber receive
cable (this is the same fiber connected to the OLIU OUT in the previous step)
using the optical power meter.
(4) After the required optical power measurement is achieved, by adding the appro-
priate buildout, connect this receive fiber to the MAIN-B-2 23-type OLIU IN
(receive) connector at the node where the power measurement is being taken.
(5) Verify that, after a few moments, no alarms are present (that is, no FAULT LED
lighted on any circuit pack). If alarms are present, press the UPD/INIT push-but-
ton on the SYSCTL. If alarms do not clear, refer to the “Troubleshooting” section
of this manual.
Provision the Network Element
(1) For Release 5 shelves, enter the set-ne command.
