ACCESSING THE LIBRARY INTERIOR AND TROUBLESHOOTING
B
LOCKAGES
Resetting the BlueScale Vision camera and other troubleshooting
operations require you to access the interior of the library. The method
used to access the library interior depends on whether or not the sides of
the library are accessible. If the library is mounted in a rack that does not
provide side access, you must remove the front panel to provide access.
Do not access the interior of the library unless you are specifically
instructed to do so by Spectra Logic Technical Support.
Prepare the Library
Before accessing the interior of the library, use the following steps to
prepare the library.
1. If possible, use your storage management software to move any
cartridges that are currently in tape drives back their storage location.
2. If possible, pause PostScan if it is running (see Pause the PostScan
Process on page 297). Any tapes currently being scanned are returned
to their storage locations.
3. Discontinue all file storage operations to the library.
4. Capture all available traces (see Capturing Traces on page 355). Trace
data generated by the library or other components may be lost when
you perform a reset, making diagnosing problems difficult.
5. Power off the library (see Power Off the Library on page 157).
Note: If soft power is enabled, a superuser must use the soft power
button on the General Status screen to power off the library.
WARNING
Risk of electrical shock, and hazardous moving parts. Unless a procedure specifies
otherwise, turn off power to the library and disconnect power cords before
removing library panels or accessing the inside of the library.
Important
Before accessing the interior of the library contact Spectra Logic Technical Support
(see Contacting Spectra Logic on page 7). Do not access the interior of the library
unless you are specifically instructed to do so by Spectra Logic Technical Support.
