7. Verify that the ports are working properly by verifying that the NTP Server card is

If the response is Y, skip to step 9.
8. Place the NTP Server card In Service:
ED-EQPT:::Sa-OUTb:CTAG:::INSRVC=Y;
ED-EQPT::Sa-OUTb:CTAG:::NTPPAIR=APPLYCFG;

9. Send a ping command to the Port A IP address: Open a command window in
Windows XP (click Start, select Run, type
cmd and click OK. Type ping
<ip_address>
.
10.Send a ping command to the Port B IP address: Open a command window in
Windows XP (click Start, select Run, type
cmd and click OK. Type ping
<ip_address>
.
11.Verify that a reply is received from each port. If a “Request timed out” message is
received, ensure that the computer is correctly connected to the SFP port (via a
cross-over cable or hub/switch) and that the computer and the Port A and Port B
IP addresses are on the same subnet
Verifying the NTP Server Function
This test verifies that the NTP Server card is functioning and sending NTP packets.
This procedure uses the SymmTime™ application available at
www.symmetricom.com. Follow the on-line instructions to download and install the
application. You must have administrator rights on the computer in order to install
SymmTime.
Note: This procedure resets the clock in your computer to the time in
the specified NTP server. If you do not wish to reset the time in your
computer, then skip this procedure.
