Beforedisconnectingorperforminganyworkonthehydraulic
system,allpressureinthesystemmustberelievedandallrotating
machinepartsmustbestopped.Stopengine;lowerorsupport
attachments.
1.Cleanmachinethoroughlybeforedisconnectingordisassemblingany
hydrauliccomponents.Alwayskeepinmindtheneedforcleanlinesswhen
workingonhydraulicequipment.Contaminationwillcauseexcessivewearof
hydrauliccomponents.
2.Putmetalcapsorplugsonallhydrauliclinesleftopenorexposedduring
testingorremovalofcomponents.
3.Theenginemustbeingoodoperatingcondition.Useaphototacwhen
performingahydraulictest.Enginespeedcanaffecttheaccuracyofthe
testerreadings.
4.Theinletandtheoutlethosesfortesterwithpressureandowcapabilities
mustbeproperlyconnectedandnotreversedtopreventdamagetothe
hydraulictesterorcomponents.
5.Whenusinghydraulictesterwithpressureandowcapabilities,opentester
loadvalvecompletelybeforestartingtheenginetominimizethepossibilityof
damagingcomponents.
6.Installhosettingsngertightandfarenoughtomakesurethattheyarenot
cross−threadedbeforetighteningthemwithawrench.
7.Positiontesterhosestopreventrotatingmachinepartsfromcontactingand
damagingthehosesortester.
8.Checkoillevelinthehydraulicreservoir.Afterconnectingtestequipment,
makesuretankisfull.
9.Checkcontrollinkagesforimproperadjustment,bindingorbrokenparts.
10.Afterinstallingtestgauges,runengineatlowspeedandcheckforany
hydraulicoilleaks.
11.Allhydraulictestsshouldbemadewiththehydraulicoilatnormaloperating
temperature(54to66ºC(130to150ºF)).
12.Beforereturningmachinetouse,makesurethathydraulicreservoirhas
correctuidlevel.Also,checkforhydraulicleaksaftertestequipmenthas
beenremovedfromhydraulicsystem.
WhichHydraulicTestsAreNecessary?
Beforebeginninganyhydraulictest,identifyiftheproblemisrelatedtothe
tractioncircuit,PTO(mow)circuit,deckliftorsteeringcircuit.Oncethefaulty
systemhasbeenidentied,performteststhatrelatetothatcircuit.
1.Ifatractioncircuitproblemexists,considerperformingoneormoreofthe
followingtests:TractionCircuitChargePressure,TractionCircuitRelief
Pressure,CounterbalancePressureand/orPiston(Traction)PumpFlow
Tests.
2.IfaPTO(mow)circuitproblemexists,considerperformingoneormoreof
thefollowingtests:CuttingDeckCircuitPressure,CuttingDeckCircuit
ReliefPressure,CuttingDeckMotorCaseDrainLeakageand/orGearPump
FlowT ests.
