TheelectricfuelpumpisattachedtothenleftframerailneartheYanmarECU
(Figure253).
Testing
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdecksandstopengine.
2.Raisethehoodandremovesidepanelfromleftsideofmachinetogain
accesstofuelpump.Allowengineandexhausttocoolbeforedoingany
disassemblyoffuelsystemcomponents.
3.Makesurefuelhosesattachedtothefuelpumparefreeofobstructions.
4.Disconnectfuelpumpdischargehosefromthefuel/waterseparator.
5.Placedisconnectedendofpumpdischargehoseintoalarge,graduated
cylindersufcientenoughtocollect1quart(0.95liter).
IMPORTANT
Whentestingfuelpumpoutput,donotturnkeyswitchtotheSTART
position.
6.CollectfuelinthegraduatedcylinderbyturningkeyswitchtotheONposition.
Allowpumptorunforthirty(30)seconds,thenturnswitchtoOFF.
7.Theamountoffuelcollectedinthegraduatedcylindershouldbe
approximately350ml(11.8oz)afterthirty(30)seconds.
8.Replacefuelpumpifoutputspecicationisnotmet.
9.Ifthefuelpumpoutputspecicationsaremetandacircuitproblemstillexists,
checkthewireharness(seeAppendixA(pageA–1)).
10.Connectfuelpumpdischargehosetofuelwaterseparatorandsecurewith
hoseclamp.
11.Addfueltothetankandprimethefuelsystem(seePrimetheFuelSystem
(page4–18)).Checkfuelsystemforleaksbeforereturningthemachineto
service.
