Note:Wheninitiallystartingthehydraulicsystemwithneworrebuiltcomponents
suchasmotors,pumpsorliftcylinders,itisimportantthatthehydraulicsystem
bechargedproperly.Airmustbepurgedfromthesystemtoreducethechance
ofcomponentdamage.
IMPORTANT
Changehydraulicoillterswheneverhydrauliccomponentsare
repairedorreplaced.
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdecksfully,disengagePTO
andstopengine.Removekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Makesureallhydraulicconnections,linesandcomponentsaresecured
tightly.
3.Ifhydrauliccomponentfailurewassevereorthehydraulicsystemis
contaminated,ushandrellhydraulicsystemandhydraulicreservoir(see
FlushHydraulicSystem(page5–77)).
IMPORTANT
Whenllinghydraulicreservoir,useonlyhydraulicuidsspecied
inOperator’sManual.Otheruidscouldcausesystemdamage.
4.Makesurehydraulicreservoirisfull.Addcorrecthydraulicoiltoreservoir
ifnecessary.
5.Primehydraulicpumps(seePrimingHydraulicPumps(page5–76)).

Beforejackingupthemachine,reviewandfollowJacking
InstructionsinChapter1(page1–1).
6.Raisemachinesothatallwheelsareoffthegroundandplaceappropriate
jackstandsundertheframetosupportthemachine.
7.Safelyclamporlockthefrontleftandrearrightwheelstopreventthemfrom
rotating.
IMPORTANT
Duringinitialoperation,checkhydraulicreservoiroillevelfrequently.
AddoilasnecessarytokeepreservoiratFULLlevel.
8.Makesuretractionpedalandliftswitchesareinneutral.Startengineand
runatlowidlespeed.Thegearpumpshouldpickupoilandllthehydraulic
system.Ifthereisnoindicationofllinthirty(30)seconds,stoptheengine
anddeterminethecause.
