Theparkingbrakeswitchislocatedontheconsolearm(Figure226).Theparking
brakecomesonautomaticallywhentheengineisnotrunning.Forserviceor
towing,theparkingbrakecanbereleasedwhiletheengineisnotrunningby
usingthehydraulicbypassvalveandplunger(seemachineOperator’sManual).
Toengagetheparkingbrakewhiletheengineisrunning,releasetheswitch
lockanddepresstheupperportionoftheparkingbrakeswitch.Theswitch
illuminateswhentheparkingbrakeisON.
Themastercontrollermonitorsthepositionoftheparkingbrakeswitch.Using
inputsfromtheparkingbrakeswitchandthetractionpedalpositionsensor,
themastercontrollerenergizeshydraulicsolenoidvalveS10inthesteering/lift
controlhydraulicmanifoldasnecessary.
Testing
TheparkingbrakeswitchanditscircuitwiringcanbetestedasaTECinputusing
theInfoCenterDisplay(seeInfoCenterDisplay(page6–9)).Iftestingdetermines
thataswitchanditscircuitwiringarenotfunctioningcorrectly,proceedwith
thefollowingtestprocedure:
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdecksandstopengine.
Removekeyfromkeyswitch.
2.Turnbattery−disconnectswitchtotheOFFposition.
3.Disassembletheconsolearmtogainaccesstotheswitch(seeConsole
Arm(page7–35)).
4.Disconnectmachinewireharnessconnectorfromtheswitchbeingtested.
