Theseatswitchanditselectricalconnectorarelocatedintheseatassembly.
Theseatswitchisanormallyopenproximityswitchthatcloseswhenthe
operatorisontheseat.T estingoftheswitchcanbedonewithoutseatremoval
bydisconnectingtheswitchwirefromthemachinewireharness(Figure231).
Themastercontrollermonitorsthepositionoftheseatswitch.Usingseatswitch
position(openorclosed)andavarietyofotherswitchesandsensors,themaster
andslavecontrollersmanageenginestart,tractioncontrolandPTOfunctions.
Testing
TheseatswitchanditscircuitwiringcanbetestedasaTECinputusingthe
InfoCenterDisplay(seeInfoCenterDisplay(page6–9)).Iftestingdetermines
thattheswitchesandcircuitwiringarenotfunctioningcorrectly,proceedwith
thefollowingtestprocedure:
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdecksandstopengine.
Removekeyfromkeyswitch.
2.Disconnectseatswitchconnectorfromthemachinewireharnessconnector.
3.Checkthecontinuityoftheswitchbyconnectingamultimeter(ohmssetting)
acrosstheseatswitchconnectorterminals.
4.Withnopressureontheseat,thereshouldbenocontinuitybetweenthe
seatswitchterminals.
5.Pressdirectlyontotheseatswitchthroughtheseatcushion.Thereshould
becontinuityastheseatcushionapproachesthebottomofitstravel.
6.Replacetheswitchiftestingdeterminesthatitisfaulty(seeOperatorSeat
Service(page7–42)).
7.Iftheswitchtestscorrectlyandacircuitproblemstillexists,checkthewire
harnesses(seeAppendixA(pageA–1)).
8.Aftertestingiscomplete,connectmachinewireharnessconnectortothe
switch.
