1.Makesuretheentireoutersurfaceofthemanifoldiscleanbeforeremoving
thevalve.
WARNING
Ifcartridgevalveserviceinvolvesanyvalvesinthesteering/deck
liftmanifold,makesurethatcuttingdecksarefullyloweredbefore
looseningvalvesinthemanifold.Ifcuttingdecksarenotfully
loweredasvalvesareloosenedinthesteering/deckliftmanifold,a
cuttingdeckmaydropunexpectedly.
2.Ifcartridgehasareplaceablesolenoidcoil,removenutsecuringsolenoidcoil
tothecartridgevalve.Carefullyslidesolenoidcoiloffthevalve.
IMPORTANT
Usecarewhenhandlingthevalvecartridge.Slightbendingor
distortionofthestemtubecancausebindingandmalfunction.
3.Removethecartridgevalve:
A.Useadeepsocketwrenchforcartridgevalvesthatthreaddirectlyinto
themanifoldblocks.
B.Useanextendedhexwrenchsocketforangemountedcartridgevalves.
4.Recordthelocationofsealkitcomponents(O−rings,sealingrings,backup
rings,etc.).Removeanddiscardoldsealkitcomponents.
5.Visuallyinspecttheportinthemanifoldfordamagetothesealingsurfaces,
damagedthreadsandcontamination.Also,inspectcartridgevalvefor
damagedsealingsurfacesandcontamination.
A.Contaminationmaycausevalvestostickorhangup.Contaminationcan
becomelodgedinsmallvalveoricesorsealareascausingmalfunction.
B.Ifvalvesealingsurfacesappearpittedordamaged,thehydraulicsystem
maybeoverheatingortheremaybewaterinthesystem.
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedair.
6.Cleancartridgevalveusingcleanmineralspirits.Submergevalveinclean
mineralspiritstoushoutcontamination.Particlesasneastalcumpowder
canaffecttheoperationofhighpressurehydraulicvalves.Ifcartridgedesign
allows,useawoodorplasticprobetopushtheinternalspoolinandout20
to30timestoushoutcontamination.Beextremelycarefultonotdamage
cartridge.Usecompressedairforcleaning.
7.Reinstallthecartridgevalve:
A.Lubricatenewsealkitcomponentswithcleanhydraulicoilandinstallon
valve.TheO−rings,sealingringsandbackupringsmustbearranged
properlyonthecartridgevalveforproperoperationandsealing.
