Thehornbuttonisamomentarypushbuttonswitchusedtosoundthehorn.The
hornbuttonislocatedontheoutsideofthecontrolconsole(Figure228).
WiththekeyswitchintheRUNorSTARTposition,acontinuoussupplyof
voltageisavailabletothehornbutton.Whenpressedthehornbuttonenergizes
thehornrelay,soundingthehorn.
Testing
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdecksandstopengine.
Removekeyfromkeyswitch.
2.Turnbattery−disconnectswitchtotheOFFposition.
3.Disassembletheconsolearmtogainaccesstotheswitch(seeConsole
Arm(page7–35)).
4.Disconnectmachinewireharnessconnectorfromtheswitchbeingtested.
5.Withtheuseofamultimeter(ohmssetting),theswitchfunctionsmaybe
testedtodeterminewhethercontinuityexistsacrosstheterminalsforeach
switchposition.Continuity(zeroohmsresistance)shouldexistacross
theswitchterminalswhentheswitchisdepressed.Thereshouldnotbe
continuity(inniteohmsresistance)acrosstheswitchterminalswhenthe
switchisnotdepressed.
6.Replacetheswitchiftestingdeterminesthatitisfaulty.
7.Iftheswitchtestscorrectlyandacircuitproblemstillexists,checkthewire
harnesses(seeAppendixA(pageA–1)).
8.Aftertestingiscomplete,connectmachinewireharnessconnectortothe
switch.
9.Assembleconsolearm(seeConsoleArm(page7–35)).
10.Turnthebattery−disconnectswitchtotheONpositionbeforereturningthe
machinetoservice.
