1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdecks,stopengineand
removekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Chockfrontwheelstopreventmachinefromshifting.
3.Safelyraisethemachineandremoverearwheels(seeWheels(page7–3)).
4.Thoroughlycleanhydraulichoseendsatttingsonsteeringcylindersand
thehydraulichoseendsattheframehardlinesfortherearwheelmotorsto
preventhydraulicsystemcontamination.
Note:T oeaseassembly,labelhydraulichosestoindicatetheircorrect
locations.
5.Disconnectthehydraulichosesfromthesteeringcylindersandthehydraulic
hosesattheframehardlinesfortherearwheelmotors.Putcapsandplugs
onallttingsandhosestopreventcontamination.
6.Removethelocknut(item13)andthrustwasherthatsecurestheaxlepivot
shafttotheframe.
CAUTION
Therearaxleassemblyweighsapproximately136kg(300lbs).Use
anappropriateliftingdevicetosafelylifttherearaxleassembly.
7.Supportrearaxletopreventitfromfalling.
8.Pulltheaxlepivotshaft(item10)fromframeandrearaxle.Carefullylower
theentireaxleassemblyandremoveitfromunderthemachine.Locate
andretrievethetwo(2)thrustwashers(item12)frombetweenthemachine
frameandrearaxle.
Note:Ifservicetotherearwheelmotorsorsteeringcylindersisrequired,
seeChapter5:HydraulicSystem(page5–1).
RearAxleInstallation(Figure294)
1.Thoroughlycleantherearaxlepivotshaft.Inspecttheshaftforwearor
damageandreplaceifnecessary.
2.Positiontherearaxleassemblytotheframe.Installathrustwasher(item
12)betweeneachsideoftheaxleassemblyandthemachineframe.Raise
axleassemblytoframeandslidepivotshaftthroughframe,thrustwashers
andaxle.Makesurethatrollpinonpivotshaftisingoodconditionand
positionedinframereliefs.
3.Installthrustwasherandlocknut(item13)ontopivotshaft.Tightenlocknut
toeliminateanyaxial(fronttoback)movementofrearaxle.Makesurethat
axlecanstillpivotfreelyafterlocknutistightened.
4.Installthehydraulichosestothesteeringcylindersandtherearwheelmotors.
WARNING
Failuretomaintainproperwheellugnuttorquecouldresultinfailure
orlossofwheelandmayresultinpersonalinjury.
5.Installrearwheels.Tightenwheellugnutsevenlyinacrossingpatternfrom
124to145N·m(92to108ft−lb).
6.Lowerthemachinetotheground.
