5 PROFINET communication with encoTRive
All signals and information that are required for controlling the encoTRive are
transmitted via the field bus.

5.1 Data communication via PROFINET-IO
encoTRive is integrated as an IO device into a PROFINET-IO network.
encoTRive is a drive in application class 3 (positioning drive) and is based on device
profile PROFIdrive V3.0. The definition indicates that the control loop necessary for
positioning is closed in the device.
Synchronized communication (Isochronous Real Time function) is thus not necessary
and is consequently not supported by encoTRive.
The following communication services are supported by encoTRive:
● Cyclic transmission of I/O data
● Cyclic transmission of alarms
● Acyclic transmission of data
The communication services are implemented on the basis of PROFINET-IO via so-
called communication relationships.
