13 Configuration example with TIA
®
Portal
This chapter describes the configuration of encoTRive with PROFINET with the
current GSDML file. The configuration is exemplified using the TIA Portal V14
update 1 with a SIMATIC CPU1511-1 PN.
13.1 Installation of the GSDML file
First of all the encoTRive GSDML file must be installed. The current file can be
downloaded from the following website:
www.tr-electronic.de
The file is called “GSDML-V2.X-TR-encoTRive-yyyymmdd.xml”, whereby the following
coding is valid:
yyyy: Year
mm: Month
dd: Day
Now proceed as follows:
● Start TIA Portal and in the Options menu item select Manage general
station description files (GSD)
● Now select the folder directory containing the downloaded GSDML file about the
Source path
● Activate the GSDML file in the checkbox and confirm the installation process with
the Install button.

● The encoTRive can then be found in the catalog under the directory
