12 Configuration example with SIMATIC
Manager
This chapter describes the configuration of encoTRive with PROFINET with the
current GSDML file. The configuration is exemplified using the SIMATIC Manager
V5.4.5.0 configuration software with a SIMATIC CPU317-2 PN/DP.
12.1 Installation of the GSDML file
First of all the encoTRive GSDML file must be installed. The current file can be
downloaded from the following website:
www.tr-electronic.de
The file is called GSDML-V2.2-TR-encoTRive-yyyymmdd.xml, where:
yyyy: Year
mm: Month
dd: Day
Now proceed as follows:
● Start STEP7 HWKONFIG and in the Options menu item select Install GSD
File...
● Now select the folder directory containing the downloaded GSDML file with the
Browse... button.
● Select the GSDML file and confirm the installation process with the Install
button.

● Experience shows that a restart of the entire STEP7 development environment is
necessary after installation.
● The encoTRive can then be found in the catalog under the directory
PROFINET IO/Additional Field Devices/Drives/TR Antriebe/encoTRive
