Use of the remote access with PM5
- Launch PM5.
- Select the Expert menu.
-Click on Comm.
- Select Connect.
-Click on Modem direct, then click on OK
-Click on Dialing and Select AWM ISDN1 Internet (PPP over ISDN).
- Dial the customer phone number and click on OK.
- Write the password pbxk1064.
On the modem the LED PC & B1 have to be lit; the connection is establish.
The configuration session is open.
Remote access to the ISDN modem
When an ISDN modem is used, it is necessary to reserve a DDI number in the public numbering plan
in order to be able to carry out a remote access.
If no DDI number is available, just check if the system ISDN modem access is present in the attendant
group by default (default group). Consequently, it is not necessary to hold a DDI number.
Nota : if the modem is not in the current attendant group, it is interesting to position the flag " Re-
routdata " with value 01H; the system then recognizes automatically the "ISDN Service" cor-
responding to the incoming call and search automatically in the default attendant group if
a data terminal is present.
REMOTE ACCESS BY THE ANALOG MODEM
Analog modem recommended
Alcatel Omni PCX Office is equipped with an analog modem V34 for remote access through the public
network. This one offers a point-to-point communication link accessible by standard protocols LINUX
(SLIP, PPP...).
Its main characteristics are: Modem V34, 33600 bds transmission speed max., protocol Hayes.
In the current 1.1 version of the system, only the modem V34 "US Robotic" has been validated.
The " Multitech " modems are not compatible.
The other types of modems were not validated.
Installation process of the remote access by analog modem
Follow the same procedures described in previous paragraphs . in the preceding chapter but replace
modem FRITZ by analog modem US Robotics.
Remote access to the analog modem
When the analog modem is used, it is necessary to hold a DDI number in the public numbering plan
in order to be able to carry out a remote maintenance.
In the case of no DDI number is available, the access to the modem will be possible only via the ope-
rator transfer.
