SECTION 31 - IMPLEMENT POWER TAKE-OFF (PTO) - CHAPTER 3
31-15
14. Tighten the nuts so that the Belleville spring, 1,
just touches the adjustment band, 2.
15. Back off the nuts 1/4 turn, so that the Belleville
spring, 1, is only applying pressure to the
pressure plate, and not the adjustment band, 2.
The adjustment band should be able to be
slightly rotated.
IMPORTANT: New friction linings, or inner plates, will
not develop full torque resistance until surface
asperities have been run smooth by operation. Initial
torque will be around 1100 -- 1200 N
m instead of the
rated 1450 N
m. Do not let the clutch slip too long. A
few brief slips of the clutch and clutch should be up
to rated resistance.
