SECTION 58 - ATTACHMENTS / HEADERS - CHAPTER 1
58-4
Each disc module is protected by a hardened ductile
iron rock guard, 1, and a skid shoe, 2.
Skid shoes are 1/4 inches thick and 8 inches wide;
they extend behind the module several inches for
optimum flotation and extended wear life of the shoe.

All modular disc cutter bar components found in disc
mower-conditioners and disc headers share com-
mon parts, with two exceptions.
(1) On units that have an odd number of discs and
the need for discs to be spinning inwards, the #1
and #2 discs are co-rotating; they both spin in the
same direction. This requires a slightly longer
spacer and drive shaft between the #1 and #2
disc modules to eliminate interference between
the knives on these discs.

(2) On disc mower-conditioners that use a longer
drive shaft between the end co-rotating discs of
the cutter bar, a longer spacer, 1, is used to
mount the cutter bar to the header.
