Answering NUAs programmed on active PADs
Because the other interfaces can operate as normal, even when the switch is operating, take special
care in answering NUAs programmed on active PADs. For example, when a call is being received on a
LAPD or LAPB interface, a PAD instance or remote configuration session can answer and terminate
the call in preference to the call being switched. This means that you should leave the PADs
Answering NUA parameters blank to ensure that the router’s PADs are not answering calls that need
to be switched. If you do want a PAD instance to answer a call, program the Answering NUA field with
as many digits as you can to ensure it only answers calls destined for that PAD.
These same precautions apply to the Allow CLI access from X.25 address parameter on the web
interface Configuration > System > General page.
