the lanyard is pulled and before the lanyard stress break is effected. The lanyard is designed to allow for 1000 pulls.
This mechanism is configured as the buttons above and is referred to as the Top button. See Radio PA Setup in 3GS

Alternatively, if this feature is not required, a keyring can be inserted in place of the lanyard and clip mechanism. This
will prevent the use of the top button.
Belt Clip
A belt clip (6) can be attached to the back of the unit in horizontal or vertical position.
