Chapter 6: Maintenance and Troubleshooting
I have an old probe attached but see this error dialog box and can not measure.
What is wrong?
You must clear the U
SE I-PROBE check box in the PROBE dialog box. For
more information, see “Probes” on page 178.
How many i-Probes can the Edge remember?

Edge Performance Verification Checklist
If you are experiencing accuracy or repeatability problems with your Edge or
FARO ScanArm system, this section details proper setup techniques to help you
identify the potential sources of error.
It is important to clearly understand all the “do's and don'ts” in order to get the
most out of every Edge and ScanArm.
N
OTE: The following checklist uses the Edge software on the fold-down touch
screen controller. Some of this checklist can be completed using the FaroArm
driver.
Issues That Will Degrade Accuracy
Mounting
Deflection in mounting:
Do not mount to any type of wooden surface.
Do not mount to optical tables such as a “Vibraplane.” The steel sheet on the
top of these tables is thin and will deflect.
Folding tripods without using the stabilizing struts are unstable.
Heavy-duty stands with wheels down and pins up are unstable.
Part deformation due to excessive clamping force.
Compensation
Deflection of compensation artifact.
