Chapter 2: Setup
Charging the Battery Pack
Install the battery pack and connect the Edge to a power outlet and the battery
pack will begin to charge. The battery pack will charge if the On/Off switch is set
to the OFF position. Charging automatically stops when the battery pack is
completely charged. The battery pack has a built-in charge meter. Press the soft
button near the connector and look at the LEDs to see the current charge.
• The D
IAGNOSTICS dialog box displays the current status of the battery pack.
See “Diagnostics” on page 190.
• The upper right corner of the Edge software screen has an indicator for the
battery pack. See “Screen Layout” on page 101.
WARNING: Only use the rechargeable battery pack supplied with your Edge.
For information on ordering additional or replacement battery packs, contact
FARO’s Customer Service by Phone, Fax or E-Mail. See “Technical Support”
on page 191.
USB Devices
You can attach certain USB devices to the port on the side of the fold-down touch
screen controller. Any USB device that uses the standard Microsoft Windows
hardware driver will install. If the device needs a specific driver for the hardware,
it will not operate properly because there is not a way to load the driver.
