2.5 Insertion of the DVB-CI Module (PCMCIA)
Figure 2–1 illustrates the ProView 7000 with the DVB-CI module (PCMCIA card) and the Smart
Card used to descramble the incoming signal. The ProView 7000 is provided with two PCMCIA
slots for up to two DVB-CI modules.
Insert the PCMCIA card firmly into one of the two slots to ensure contact. Each DVB-CI
module accommodates one Smart Card, inserted with the UP arrow pointing upwards and
forwards.
CAUTION: Do not remove or insert the DVB-CI module or the Smart Card while the ProView 7000 is
powering up or initializing.

When installed, the card is detected automatically by the ProView 7000 and enabled if the
following conditions are met:
■ The installed card must be EN50221 compatible
■ Services have been selected
■ Using a valid card licensing
2.6 Electrical Power Connection
The ProView 7000 is powered by an AC power supply. Grounding of the ProView 7000 is
provided when the AC power cable is connected to the unit AC connector.

When the ProView 7000 is rack-mounted, the device’s grounding jackscrew must be
connected to the rack housing, which must be correctly grounded.
