7.5 PPI/SEMI-3D screen
The picture mode is a dual mode display with PPI screen shown at the top and SEMI-3D screen at the
bottom of the screen. In the SEMI-3D screen, the azimuth information is displayed in X-axis, the
distance in Y-axis and the radar echo strength in Z-axis in a semi-real presentation. This feature helps
the operator in interpreting the respective radar echo strength at a glance, which is not possible with
conventional radar displays. In the 3D screen, the ship’s heading is always fixed at the center.
In this mode of display, the EBL, VRM , etc. are available for both pictures, however, the functions such
as off-center, zoom, floated EBL2/VRM2 are not useable. The picture mode is fixed to Head Up only.
7.6 PPI/PPI screen
The radar picture is alternately refreshed with a separate scanning interval for each PPI screen. While
one picture is being refreshed, the other is held static. When navigating at a high speed, we
recommend using a single PPI screen for continuous real-time imaging.
(1) To change screen, press the FUNC key. The selected screen rim is highlighted and the following
controls, such as range, gain, STC, FTC, cross cursor and alarm, are available. The off-center,
zoom and floated EBL2/VRM2 functions are not useable.
7.7 Overlay mode
This mode permits the radar picture to be overlaid on the plotter chart screen. In this mode, the range
setting is only effective for radar screen and the picture mode is fixed to radar mode.
