Precision Rails
The rails are precision ground and are available in straight and curve segments of different
lengths as shown in Table 4-6 on page 190. The interface between curved sections of preci-
sion rail and straight sections uses an adjustment key to make sure of the alignment between
the sections of rail. Rail sections attach to the spine plates at the top of the support post assem-
blies, as shown in Figure 3-52.

NOTICE The precision rails must always be lubricated with a thin
coating of oil to provide proper operation and environmental
protection, see Lubricate the Precision Rails on page 292.
