Chapter 2 Measurement
HA-8190V 2-38
2.8 HbA1c Calibration
Calibration provides operation coefficients (calibration coefficients) for correcting measurement results.
Usually, perform calibration for the Variant mode and Fast mode at the same time. Use ARKRAY calibrator
(CALIBRATOR 90, assignment of standard values is based on JCCRM411).
When calibration is required
Calibration methods
2.8.1 Performing Automatic Calibration
When required Description
After installing the instrument Perform HbA1c calibration before the instrument
is used for the first time after installation.
After replacing the column Measurement errors may occur due to
differences among instruments or changes in
environmental conditions. Perform calibration to
eliminate potential errors.
When restarting the instrument after extended periods of disuse
If HbA1c control measurement results deviate from control
expected values
If HbA1c control measurement results obtained after changing
the measurement mode are out of accuracy control range
When measurement results fall out of the management standard
range for your facilities
After washing the optical unit cell
REFERENCE:
Deviations in control measurement results can be detected by setting <Ctrl expected values> and <Control error
range> to the appropriate values on the [Meas. condition setup] screen (see “3.5.3. Setting the HbA1c
Measurement Conditions” on page 3-16).
Calibration method Description
Automatic calibration The instrument measures two standard solutions (Low and High solutions) for each of
the Variant mode and Fast mode, and uses the results to automatically determine the
calibration coefficients.
Standard values of the standard solutions can be set by:
Entering numbers from the operator panel.
Reading calibration information from barcodes during measurement (recommended).
User-specified coefficient
setup
Set coefficients “a” and b” of the HbA1c correction formula, “Y=aX+b” from the operator
panel.
Wear protective gloves to prevent exposure to pathogenic microbes.
Discard used samples and protective gloves in accordance with local regulations for
biohazardous waste.
IMPORTANT:
Carefully read the package insert that comes with the calibrator before use.
Use the same lot number for the calibrators of the Variant mode and Fast mode.
Use the calibration rack to perform HbA1c calibration.
