GLD correction on Level 1 and 3
It is very important to perform the GLD alignment starting from Hierarchical level 1 and going up to Hierarchy
level 4.
7.8.11.3 GLD correction
Overview
• Preparing the GLD correction
• Performing GLD correction
7.8.11.3.1 Preparing the GLD correction
Preparing the GLD correction
1. Switch on all projectors in the system for at least 30 minutes prior to starting this procedure to ensure they are at nominal operating
temperature
2. Align input balance in case of analog source signals
3. Perform Gray Level Correction (GLC) if required
4. Set Gamma at projector side (2.2) and/or IG side to the desired level
5. Turn off all lights and avoid all stray light: the system surroundings must be fully dark
6. Match the Light output (CLO)
7. Perform Dynacolor alignment
8. Perform Black Color Matching if required
Suitable test patterns
Several test patterns can be used for the GLD alignment:
• internal gray level, which can be set to be automatically generated during the alignment procedure (advised!)
• external gray scale pattern
• full gray pattern generated by a test image generator (e.g. Polaris)
The gray level that needs to be used to correct the selected gray range during the different alignment steps
depends on the gamma you set for the projector in use (See Appendix B).
