5.1 Definitions
5.1.1 Tightening channel
A tightening channel contains all components required for tightening.
Compact System The tightening channel consists of:
• Tightening spindle with connection cable or
ErgoSpin hand-held nutrunner with connection cable
• CS351 compact system
Modular System The tightening channel in its basic configuration consists of the following components:
• Tightening spindle with connection cable or
ErgoSpin hand-held nutrunner with connection cable
• System box (SB356) or card rack field (BT356) with
– Servo amplifier (LT35x/LTS350D, LTU350/1 or LTE350D)
– Control unit (SE352 or SE352M)
– Communication unit (KE350 or KE350G IL)
5.1.2 Tightening controller
Compact System The tightening controller is part of the CS351 compact system.
Modular System The tightening controller is either the SE352 or SE352M.
Tightening programs that are controlled by a PLC via PLC signals are stored in the tightening controller.
The tightening program coordinates the tightening process or sequence. It is divided into various
tightening steps, where tightening parameters are set. The tightening programs are stored in the
tightening controller. These programs are controlled by a PLC via PLC signals.
5.1.3 Tightening cell (FC)
A tightening cell is designated as the installed hardware for at least one tightening channel and at least
one data interface for communication with the operating or evaluation program or the partner controller.
This includes the corresponding tightening programs and tightening applications.
Compact System The tightening cell consists of CS351 compact system and either the ErgoSpin hand-held nutrunner or
a tightening spindle.
Modular System The tightening cell consists of the communication unit together with control units, servo amplifiers, and
tightening spindles or ErgoSpin hand-held nutrunners.
The communication unit and control units communicate with each other via an internal bus system.
The information provided in this chapter refers to Rexroth tightening spindles and the ErgoSpin hand-held
