There are data output cases, e.g., IPM, FTP or XML data services, where the data can be intermediately
buffered on the mass storage device (CF card) if there are problems with the connection to the
communication partner. This buffering may prolong the tightening cycle time. This is especially the case
when the connection has not been established for a prolonged time period and the CF card is full.
In case of repeated disconnected connections to the communication partner, increasingly fragmented file
storage may occur similar to on computer hard disks due to the frequent writing and deleting processes.
This affects the duration of writing and reading cycles. In this case, frequent defragmentation of the CF
card is recommended to reduce the duration of writing and reading cycles.
NOTICE
Flash-based data storage volumes as CF350 are subject to natural wear due to continuous writing
and reading processes. For this reason, the service life of a CF card is limited. Typically, industrial CF
cards reach approx. 1 million writing/reading cycles. The end of the service life is indicated by an
increase in the writing and reading duration. In this case, the CF350 is to be replaced.
