Remove th e shif t lever pin from the ho using.
Remove shif t shaf t, crad le an d shif t leve r. Move
shifter detent as need ed to help ease removal of
parts.
Wrap the housing with a sho p cloth to catch ball
and spring. Rot ate the shif ter detent 90° in either
direction, then pull the detent out of the housing.
Remove the detent ball and spring.
Shift Housing Assembly
IMPORTANT: Clean and inspect all parts before
beginning assemb ly pro cedures. Replace any
damaged parts.
Lightly coat the detent ball and spring with Needle
Bearing grease. I nsert the sp ring in t he h ousing,
then the ball.
Insert shifter detent at 90° an gle into t he housing
as sh own, while depressing th e ball and sprin g
with a suitable tool. Once the shifter detent is past
the ball, re move the tool and position d etent to
engage NEUTRAL position.
