Troubleshooting
This section is intended to be a collection of solutions to commonly seen problems with the SDR-1000.
While this is not a comprehensive list of everything that could go wrong, there is a good chance that if you
are having a problem, the solution may be here. If your problem is not dealt with here, you may be able to
find the solution on the Support Pages of our website, in our Knowledge Base, or through our highly active
Reflector. If none of these sources provide you the assistance required, please contact FlexRadio Systems
using the information provided on the Contact page of our website.
The software is oscillating quickly between receive and transmit modes.
Possible Hardware Causes:
Parallel connection is not solid. Double check that the parallel port is making good contact on both
ends. If running the PowerSDR software without hardware connected, it is necessary to check the
Disable PTT checkbox on the Options Sub-Tab of the General Tab of the Setup Form.
Relays do not click when starting the software or when cycling the
software power button.
Possible Hardware Causes:
1. Power Supply/Enclosure switch is not connected/turned on. Verify that the power supply
connection is secure and that it is powered up. Ensure that the front panel power switch on the
enclosure is in the “On” position. Make sure the power supply can handle the current load of the
radio (1.25A without PA, 25A with PA).
2. Parallel Cable problem. The parallel cable must be short (no more than 6 feet) and must have
straight through connections on all 25 pins. Note that many cables with the same 25-pin D-
connectors may not work properly because some of the pins are not connected or some are crossed
(as used in null modem cables). Check the connections on both ends (PC and enclosure) to ensure
that good contact is made. Low line drive could also be an issue. Verify that the signal levels on the
parallel port are ~5V (when high) and that the rise time is fast and clean.
