The Device Explorer tab is divided into four boxes for better managing the data by the user.
It consists of the following:
Physical Input ports box, deals with the features of the device input physical interfaces
(see 4.4.1 Physical Input Box).
Multiplex Input box, deals with the multiplexing features of the input stream (see
4.4.2 Multiplex Input Box).
Multiplex & Decoding Output box, deals with the multiplexing and decoding features of
the output stream (see
4.4.3 Multiplex & Decoding Output Box).
Physical Output ports box, dealing with the features of the device output physical
interfaces (see 4.4.3.6 Pass Through TS Routing).
NOTE: The Device Explorer tab can be displayed in the following ways:
Right-click the device icon in the Device box and select the Open Device Explorer for {device name}
option in the pop-up menu.
Double-click the device icon in the Devices box.
Drag the device icon from the Device Tree in the Devices box to the box on the right.
Once a Device Explorer tab is displayed, it displays until it is closed by the EMS user. The ProView 7000
EMS supports opening up to 10 Device Explorer tabs.
The active device explorer tab is white and the others are gray. There are two options to change the
displayed device explorer:
Selecting a gray tab pushes the respective device explorer tab forward and displays the selected device.
Selecting the device icon in the Devices box.
Each Device Explorer tree can be hierarchically drilled down to display the features and elements available
on the tree and enable them for managing by the EMS user.
TIP: Device Explorer TIPS
Right-click an element in the tree to present a specific context menu to activate the EMS management
tools. Some of these tools can be activated from the EMS menu or the EMS toolbar.
Each context menu features at least two options:
Refresh, which enables the user to select either refreshing the currently managed element or the
currently managed device. Refer to 4.7 Refreshing the EMS Screen for details.
Properties, which displays the specific properties of the element. Refer to 4.5 Element Properties
Configuration for specific details on each element type.
