A15 Front End Control Assembly Troubleshooting
The following procedure will verify the 300 MHz IF output switching:
1. Remove the instrument dress cover and internal cover. Refer to Chapter
18, “Assembly Replacement Procedures.” for instructions on removing
these covers.
2. Turn the instrument on and allow it to complete its boot up process.
3. Switch the instrument into the Spectrum Analyzer mode by pressing
Mode, Spectrum Analyzer.
4. Turn the RF Preselector off by pressing Input/Output, RF Input, RF
Preselector Off.
5. Turn the instrument auto alignment routine off by pressing System,
Alignments, Auto Align, Off.
6. Switch the instrument into the IQ Analyzer mode by pressing Mode, IQ
Analyzer (Basic).
7. Turn the 50 MHz Calibrator signal on by pressing Input/Output, RF
Calibrator, 50 MHz.
8. Tune the instrument to a frequency of 50 MHz with a span of 0 Hz by
pressing FREQ Channel, Center Freq, 50 MHz and SPAN X Scale, Zero
Span.
9. Set the input attenuation to 10 dB by pressing AMPTD Y Scale,
Attenuation, 10 dB.
10.Switch to the 85 MHz IF Path by pressing Mode Setup, IF Path, 85 MHz.
11.Disconnect W52 from A15 J901 as shown in Figure 8-6.
12.Connect a spectrum analyzer to A15 J901.
