5.8 Towing a trailer

If no trailer is connected, you must close the
towbar coupling by hand. Proceed as follows:
• Move the lever (1) briefly in the direction of
the coupling jaw (observe the arrow).
The lever swings downwards and the towbar
coupling is closed.

Risk of injury when closing the towbar coupling by hand
When closing, the lever moves down with great force in the direction of the
coupling jaw. Start the closing process only by moving the lever briefly in
the direction of the coupling jaw with the ball of your hand.
If you hold the lever and move it down, it may carry your hand with it and
crush it.

Risk of injury when the automatic closing device is triggered
Always close the coupling if no trailer is connected. This prevents people
being injured by the automatic closing device being activated unintention-
ally.
