6.21 HotDir
Introduction to Hot Directories
Hot directories allow you to transfer data of any kind via ftp, NFS or copy to the system and
to process them automatically. Therefore the data are transferred to predefined directories,
which are then processed as indicated (e.g. create and submit print jobs).
The HotDir program is a daemon searching all predefined directories for print data within a
defined period of time. If there is a complete job, HotDir generates a print job via the PJM
or calls a configurable script/program.
Note: For details on the configuration of the HotDir feature and the parameters of the
HotDir ini file see Administrators Guide chapter "HotDir".
Working with the program
There are three kinds of job transmissions:
1. Data plus Océ Custom Job Ticket
You create a subdirectory in the predefined directory (located in u/prismapro/data/
hotdir which is a link to /u/hotdir) in which the data file(s) are to be transferred in the
first place. After the complete transfer of all data you have to transfer the OCT (Océ Custom
Ticket) into this directory. This ticket must have the same name as the subdirectory plus the
ending .oct.
Example:
Predefined Directory /u/hotdir/test1
Subdirectory /u/hotdir/test1/job1
Data /u/hotdir/test1/job1/data1
/u/hotdir/test1/job1/data2
OCT /u/hotdir/test1/job1.oct
Note: If you use only one printfile per job, you don’t have to create subdirectories!
In this case, the ticket must have the same name as the data file plus the ending
".oct".
