7.1 Remote Printing Using rcmd
The rcmd command enables the local commands to be submitted by other workstations
linked with the print server in a network running the TCP/IP protocol.
The APA-Module in a TCP/IP network
The commands for a APA-Module print server with the name "printserver1" would be as fol-
lows:
⇒rcmd printserver1 spladmin -s spool on
⇒rcmd printserver1 spladmin -s printer1 on
⇒rcmd printserver1 spsprt -option / u/spslib/applic1/
pages_xxxdpi.job
⇒rcmd printserver1 spladmin -s printer1 off
⇒rcmd printserver1 spladmin -s spool off
These commands print a file that is already stored on the print server. The following com-
mand is used for transferring a print file ("myfile") from a local workstation ("mycomputer")
to the print server. Resource files can also be sent.
⇒rcp mycomputer:myfile printserver1:/u/spslib/applic5/myfile
