6.2 User Administration
6.2.1 Introduction
This version introduces a flexible user administration. You can use this tool to set up
PRISMAproduction users and permission groups and to administrate them.
Generally all applications have to log on PRISMAproduction to get access to the functions
of the server applications like the Explorer server or Licence server. This takes effect either
within the system for the connection between master and slave or (even more) for a con-
nection from outside the system, e.g. via a Widows workstation with Java Webstart.
Above all because PRISMAproduction is accessible from outside, it is necessary to create
users, which only relate to PRISMAproduction and which exitst and can be managed com-
pletely separated from the Linux system user. Vice versa while locally logging in on a Linux
server, it should also be possible to use the Linux account for the access to PRISMApro-
duction (automatic login).
User roles up to version 3.0
There were 4 user roles defined (admin, service, applic, operator), which were also system
users. The PRISMA user logged himself on to the Linux system and to the Explorer at the
same time. Therefore a separate logon to the PRISMAproduction Explorer was not neces-
sary.
User roles and permissions from version 3.02
Introduced with this version you can create user roles of your own choice. You assign
groups of permissions to these user roles. A group is a defined set of permissions. Ac-
cess to these permissions can activated or deaktivated.
PRISMAproduction users admin, service, applic and operator are still preconfigured as
default users. Groups of permissions are assigned to these users accordingly. These de-
fault users and groups cannot be modified or deleted.
