A.Gearshaftsshouldbefreeofroughsurfacesandexcessivewearat
bushingpointsandsealingareas.Scoring,roughsurfacesorwearon
gearshaftsindicatesneedforreplacement.
B.Gearteethshouldbefreeofexcessivescoringandwear.Anybrokenor
nickedgearteethmustbereplaced.
C.Inspectgearfaceedgeforsharpness.Sharpedgesofgearswillmillinto
thrustplatesand,thus,mustbereplaced.
4.Inspectthrustplatesforthefollowing:
A.Bearingareasshouldnothaveexcessivewearorscoring.
B.Faceofthrustplatesthatareincontactwithgearsshouldbefreeofwear,
roughnessorscoring.
C.Thicknessofthrustplatesshouldbeequal.
5.Inspectfrontangeandrearcoverfordamageorwear.
6.Ifinternalpartsarefoundtobewornordamaged,gearpumpreplacement
isnecessary.
