Ifbearingsarebeingreplaced,makesuretousethespacerringthat
isincludedwithnewbearingset(Figure334).
7.Slidespacerringandinnerbearingspacerintospindlehousing,theninstall
upperbearingconeandgreasedoilsealintotopofhousing.Note:Theupper
sealmusthavethelipfacingin(down)(Figure336).Makesureuppersealis
ushto1.5mm(0.060in)belowthehousingsurface.
8.Inspectthespindleshaftandshaftspacertomakesuretherearenoburrs
ornicksthatcouldpossiblydamagetheoilseals.Lubricatetheshaftand
spacerwithgrease.
9.Installspindleshaftspacerontoshaft.Placethinsleeveortapeonspindle
shaftsplinestopreventsealdamageduringshaftinstallation.
10.Carefullyslidespindleshaftwithspacerupthroughspindlehousing.The
bottomoilsealandspindlespacerttogetherwhenthespindleisfully
installed.
11.InstallgreasedO−ringtotopofspindleshaft.
12.Installpulley(hubdown),hardenedwasherandlocknuttospindleshaft.
Tightenlocknutfrom176to203N·m(130to150ft−lb).
IMPORTANT
Pneumaticgreasegunscanproducehighpressureinsidespindle
housingthatcandamagespindleseals.Pneumaticgreaseguns,
therefore,arenotrecommendedtobeusedforgreasingofspindle
housings.
13.Attachahandpumpgreaseguntogreasettingonhousingandllhousing
cavitywithgreaseuntilgreasestartstocomeoutoflowerseal.
14.Rotatespindleshafttomakesurethatitturnsfreely.
