Table 7-18 Modular ONT connections
• a motherboard that provides
• power and traffic management
• optical, power, and common circuitry for POTS/VDSL2 service units
• a maximum of three POTS/VDSL2 service units (S-840V-A) that provide
customer service interfaces
• 4 interfaces for POTS-only transmissions
• 4 interfaces for POTS/VDSL2 simultaneous transmissions
• interface LEDs
The modular ONT front door is equipped with tamper-resistant screws to prevent
unauthorized entry; see Figure 7-23. A second internal cover protects access to fiber
and power terminals; see Figure 7-24.
Connection Description
Craft port This connection is used for the management of the modular ONT unit.
POTS termination
cable assemblies
These assemblies provide 12 POTS and 12 POTS/VDSL2 connections.
Service plug-in unit
CHAMP connector
This connector provides 4 POTS and 4 POTS/VDSL2 connections.
Power and alarm
cable
This cable provides connection to the power supply.
Fiber optic cable This cable provides connection to the GPON.
Twisted pair
POTS/VDSL2 cable
This cable provides connection to the residential gateways.
