40.1 Identification
Table 40-1 provides identification information about the ONT power supply/battery
backup unit (OPSU/BBU) from Delta Electronics Inc.

40.2 Features and application notes
The OPSU provides:
• 50 W, 47.5 to 52 V dc power supply for the BBU
• input voltage range of 90 to 135 V ac at 47 to 63 Hz frequency range
• OPSU status alarm output
The BBU provides:
• 38 W, 11 to 20 V dc power and battery backup for the ONT
• input voltage range of 44 to 52 V dc
• valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) backup battery 12 V 7.2 Ah
• battery diagnostics, self-tests, and BBU status alarm outputs
• battery and alarm control functions
The OPSU/BBU meets:
• UL 60950-1, CSA C22.2 No. 60950-1, NEBS Level 1 and 3 (GR1089 and
GR63), FCC Part 15 Class B
• operating temperature: –20 ° to 46°C (–4 ° to 115 °F) plus solar loading
40.3 General description
The OPSU converts ac power to dc power to supply the BBU. The BBU provides 4
to 8 h of backup battery power for the lifeline POTS service, depending on
environmental conditions and load. The BBU also supplies power and alarm
connections to the ONT.
