27.4 Special considerations
The VLANs between the ONT and the dongle are fixed:
VLAN ID 35 carries the IP multicast stream from the ONT to the subscriber.
VLAN ID 38 carries the RF return path from the subscriber to the ONT.
To ensure the proper mapping of the VLANs from the subscriber-side to the
network-side, the following configurations are required:
Two HSI services are needed: one to carry the IP multicast stream from the PON
to the subscriber, and the other to carry the RF return path from the subscriber to
the IPTV service provider.
The ONT UNI ports that support the HSI services must be configured for VLAN
translation mode in the QoS marker profile.
The HSI services must be properly configured so that:
VLAN ID 35 maps to the IPTV C-VLAN on the PON
VLAN ID 38 maps to the RF return path (AMR) C-VLAN on the PON
The AMR PON C-VLAN must be configured in pass-through mode.
Figure 27-1 illustrates the mapping of dongle VLANs in the upstream direction.
