42.1 Identification
Table 42-1 provides identification information about the FlexNet FMPS-150W UPS
from Alpha Technologies, Inc. that is used with the small office home office (SOHO)
ONT, business ONT, and LP multi dwelling unit (MDU) outdoor ONT.

42.2 Features and application notes
The FlexNet FMPS-150W UPS provides:
• 48 V dc to 58 V dc output when operating on ac power, or 42 V dc to 58 V dc
when using batteries
• simple power connections from the + dc lead on the Alpha FMPS to the + input
terminal on the ONT or MDU, and from the – dc lead on the Alpha FMPS to the
– input terminal on the ONT or MDU
• 150 W output using universal input voltage range of 90 V ac to 320 V ac input
power, 45 Hz to 66 Hz
• support for two strings of four 7.2 Ah valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries
provide up to 8 h of backup battery power, depending upon conditions
• battery diagnostics, self-testing, and communication capability by alarm output to
the service provider network using the customer premises electronics
• surge protection compliant to ANSI/IEEE Std. C62.41 to Category A, B, or C
requirements, using a ring wave or combination waveform at a level of 6 kV
• CSA C22.2 No. 60950-1/UL 60950-1 1st Edition, EN 60950-1:2001
42.3 General description
The FlexNet FMPS-150W UPS can be mounted inside the customer’s premises. It
powers the SOHO, business ONT, and LP MDU and provides up to 8 h of backup
power for lifeline POTS services, depending on environmental conditions and load.
The UPS converts 90 V ac to 320 V ac input (45/66 Hz autosensing) to 150 W
continuous output of 48 V dc to 58 V dc. You can install up to two FMPS-150W UPS
units on a single dedicated 15 A circuit.
