A.14 IP Media Parameters
The IP media parameters are described in the table below.
Table A-75: IP Media Parameters
Parameter Description
Web: Number of Media
Channels
EMS: Media Channels
[MediaChannels]
Defines the number of DSP channels that are allocated for various
functionality (IP streaming, IP conferencing, IP transcoding, IP-to-IP
sessions).
The RTP streams for IP-to-IP calls always transverse the device and
two DSP channels are allocated per IP-to-IP session. Therefore, the
maximum number of media channels for IP-to-IP calls is 120,
corresponding to 60 IP-to-IP calls.
The maximum number of media channels depends on the number of
installed Media Processing (MPM) modules:
One module = 40 channels (assuming it is not inserted in Slot #6)
Two modules = 80 channels
Three modules = 120 channels
The default value is 0.
Notes:
For this parameter to take effect, a device reset is required.
For IP conferencing, the MPM module must be installed in Slot
#6.
If the MPM module is installed in Slot #6, the first DSP channel is
used for a conference and the second DSP, supporting up to 20
channels, is used for transcoding.
Other DSP channels can be used for PSTN interfaces.
For DSP resource options, see “DSP Channel Resources for
Transcoding” on page 167.
[EnableIPMediaChannels]
Enables IP media channel support.
[0] = Disable (default)
[1] = Enable
Notes:
This parameter is applicable only to Mediant 1000.
For this parameter to take effect, a device reset is required.
[IPmediaChannels]
This ini file parameter table defines the number of DSP channels that
are "borrowed" from each of the device's digital modules for IP media
functionality. The format of this parameter is as follows:
[ IPMediaChannels ]
FORMAT IPMediaChannels_Index = IPMediaChannels_ModuleID,
IPMediaChannels_DSPChannelsReserved;
[ \IPMediaChannels ]
For example, the below settings use 15 and 10 DSP channels from
