54 ST80 Masterview Operation and Setup
• If waypoints in the external route already exist, the old Lat/Lon is
overwritten by the new (if different).
Capturing Single Waypoints
Go to a new route or insert a blank waypoint in an existing route.
A single waypoint will then be captured from other instruments (e.g.
NavPlotter 100) and entered at the blank waypoint in the route and
also placed in the Waypoint List.
General Route Information
If the currently displayed route has been selected from the route
catalogue, the Masterview becomes the ‘Navigation Master’.
If the currently displayed route has been received from SeaTalk, the
Masterview becomes a ‘Navigation Slave’ – the second data line
states “EXTERNAL”.
If an ‘R’ is visible on the top line the route is in reverse order.
When you enter the Navigate chapter for the first time the
Masterview displays the Route ‘page’.
Note: Upon subsequent entries to the Navigate chapter, the page
that was open when you left the Navigate chapter becomes the first
page.
Once a route has been selected, the Route ‘page’ displays the
currently selected route, whether it is active or not.
Operation in Dead-Reckoned Mode
If Lat/Lon data is not available, range and bearing and cross
track error are calculated from a dead-reckoned position using
boat speed and heading. The dead reckoned position is liable to
significant errors and extra care must be taken to confirm actual
position. Because of the potential for positional error, in dead-
reckoned mode, cross track error is not transmitted onto
SeaTalk and so autopilot track control is not possible.
