Callendar - van Dusen Equation
The relationship between a Platinum Resistance Temperature (PRT)
sensor's resistance and temperature can be generated from the
Callendar - van Dusen equation:
Below 0 °C:
2
0
t
tBtA1RR ⋅+⋅+⋅=
Where:
R
t
is the resistance in Ohms at temperature t
R
0
is the resistance in Ohms at 0 °C
t is the temperature in °C
A, B and C are customizable factors.
For standard sensors the factors A, B and C are already defined, but
real life (reference) sensors may require slightly different factors.
Note.
Callendar - van Dusen equation applies to Platinum Resistance
Temperature (PRT) type RTD sensors only. Other types of RTD
sensors cannot be customized using this equation.
